Summary

A Division of Patrick Industries, AIA Countertops is unarguably the largest solid surface and granite/quartz fabricators in North America is hiring an Experienced Fabrication Manager at their Commercial Division in Syracuse, IN to continue meeting Customer demands and putting the Customer 1st.

 

The facility in Syracuse, IN sports some of the best and most accurate equipment available and is currently hiring a Stone Fabrication Manager to work under the Business Unit Director to help lead the efforts of the Commercial Division. The purpose of the Stone Fabrication Manager is to lead Team Members as aligned with Patrick Industries Leadership Values and Customer 1st Focus while providing our Customers with quality products. The Fabrication Manager holds a key position on the leadership team of AIA Countertops. The incumbent will have a high degree of matrix leadership with our branch operations to assure the branch fully leverages Patrick’s capabilities as a Corporation while focusing on the primary goals of operating success within the branch.

Specific Responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of the Fabrication Manager will be to develop and maintain thorough knowledge of all manufacturing processes and production equipment while managing a highly skilled team of fabricators. Learn and understand all systems and procedures such as personnel safety, quality control, customer satisfaction, manufacturing and plant financials, production reporting, plant metrics, maintenance, etc.

 

  • Resolves day-to-day complications in scheduling changes, equipment utilization, and personnel requirements
  • Coordinate with sales personnel with regard to customer orders, routings, specifications, pricing, shipping, etc. to ensure high quality products consistent with profit goals, objectives and the customers’ needs
  • Develop and maintain high plant standards of safety and working conditions to provide maximum protection for the employees and equipment
  • Lead and manage manufacturing team, including selection, training, mentoring, guiding, and disciplining. Know and understand Company policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations
  • Responsible for the continuous improvement efforts that drive value added activity to better service the customer needs while impacting the bottom line
  • Ensure the cost effectiveness of the Commercial Fabrication area, including system utilization, the control of labor utilization; preventing excess hours, downtime, and overtime and the efficient usage of transportation related equipment.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in solid surface is mandatory
  • Undergraduate degree in Business Management, Organizational Leadership and Supervision, Engineering, or a related field highly preferred 
  • At least 5 years of experience leading a Fabrication Team
  • Basic knowledge of Human Resources, QA and Safety systems is essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in terms of being clear, concise, and professional with the ability to work effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines with changing priorities and work independently with little to no oversight
  • Strong accountability and follow-through skills
  • Ability and desire to train and coach others to improve performance
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking
  • Knowledge of 5S, Lean Manufacturing, and Value Propositions is preferred.
  • A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and
    respect) are necessary qualities
  • Intermediate to advanced skill level working with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
