Summary

We are looking for an experienced CAD Designer to join our growing team! In this entry to mid-level position, you will work on a team with other Designers and Engineers throughout AIA design counter top layouts, store display fixtures, applications for large commercial and residential housing projects and other solid surface application designs.

AIA Countertops is unarguably the largest solid surface and granite/quartz fabricators in North America. Our 200,000 square feet of facilities in Syracuse, Indiana sports some of the best and most accurate equipment available and are currently hiring a CAD Designer.

Specific Responsibilities

    • Modify existing drawings and create new designs based on Customer specifications
    • Communicate with Internal and External Customers regarding projects
    • Analyze job orders, drawings, blueprints, specifications, and design data in order to calculate part dimension compatibility with machines, tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
    • Observe machine trial runs or conduct computer simulations to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications
    • Write, store, and modify original and/or existing CNC programs to enhance efficiency
    • Coordinate with other functional areas as needed to implement Engineering Changes
    • Provide progress, status, and troubleshooting reports to management
    • May occasionally perform special projects; Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years using CAD/CAM software, preferably: Alphacam, Autocad, Enroute
  • Prior experience operating a CNC is desired
  • Ability to professionally communicate and work with others
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple, changing priorities
  • Blueprint reading, basic math, and understanding of measuring devices
  • Able to keep team members well informed and to draw on other's expertise when required
  • Write appropriate machine-level instructions, including revisions to existing programs- desired
