  • Summary

    Foremost Fabricators, a Division of Patrick Industries is seeking an experienced Industrial Engineer to provide leadership and definition to Continuous Improvement initiatives throughout a multi-site operation located in Goshen, IN. Foremost Fabricators manufactures fabricated aluminum products, sheet and coil, and custom laminated products for the RV and MH industries.  

     

    With support from the Leadership Team, the Industrial Engineer will work under the direction of the Business Unit Director to lead and facilitate projects to achieve sustainable change and continuous improvement which will focus on process improvement, waste reduction, quality, cost reduction and leadership.

    Specific Responsibilities

    Responsibilities: 

    • Provide leadership in the growth and maturation of the continuous improvement culture through training, mentoring, and facilitating Kaizen Events
    • Lead Values Stream Mapping events to determine opportunities for improvement in the reduction of waste
    • Prioritize continuous improvement initiatives to drive short-term and long-term business unit improvements
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives through the project life cycle to include activities such as process assessments, project planning, collaboration with stakeholders and process users, process observation and baseline metrics collection, team facilitation, and follow-up to ensure sustained results
    • Manage performance of continuous improvement initiatives, actions, and cross-functional activities
    • Support the sharing of best practices from internal and external benchmarking activities
    • Assist in the continued embedment of our Customer First Culture by working with production supervisors and team members to develop their understanding of our Customer First model and their impact to the Customer. 
    • Develop and utilize tools and techniques to extract, quantify, interpret, analyze, summarize, and visually display and present data
    • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members, including delegation of responsibilities to appropriate team
    • Conduct Six Sigma, Lean projects, leading teams to address business process problems and design new processes to achieve results
    • Coach site managers to establish performance measurement systems and goals aligned with organizational objectives
    • Conduct Kaizen Leader Training and mentor Kaizen leaders

    Requirements

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s Degree is required
    • 3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in either a leadership position or a matrix leadership role
    • 2+ years of experience facilitating, coaching and implementing TPM, Lean, kaizen/six sigma events and driving lean transformation with proven results and implementations
    • Six Sigma green belt training/certification preferred
    • OSHA certification preferred
    • Proven ability to successfully manage cross functional teams, and implement improvement within an established time frame, then sustain improvements. High energy, data driven, and results oriented
    • Ability and desire to train and coach others to improve performance
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in terms of being clear, concise, and professional with the ability to work effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior management
    • Ability to quickly adapt communications in a variety of settings to meet the unique needs of multiple audiences
    • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines and work independently with little to no oversight
    • Strong accountability and follow-through skills
    • Strong analytical/critical thinking
    • A high level of personal integrity (self-esteem, confidence, honesty, and respect) are necessary qualities
    • Self-motivated to work independently in a busy environment with changing priorities
    • Bi-lingual Spanish/English language skills desirable
