  • Summary

As we look forward to continuing the investment in our future and serving our customers to the utmost highest degree, we reached out to our top performers and asked them what they wish they would have known before taking on a significant leadership position. They expressed to us the training and support they would have valued, in addition to the lessons they learned the hard way.

The outcome of those conversations became the framework for Impact: an Operations Leadership Development Program. Impact is designed for people who are motivated and ready to learn how to make an impact as a leader in any manufacturing facility and how to grow a business where the customers’ needs always come first. This is not a cookie-cutter program in which we offer you generic information and opportunities. This program will provide you with the tools you need, and show you how to develop the relationships necessary for you to make a measurable impact on the organization and the people you encounter each day.

Impact has been tailored to assist in the development of recent college graduates who are motivated by a leadership career in manufacturing.

    Specific Responsibilities

In this program, the first two years are dedicated to preparing you to be an impactful leader in manufacturing. Your development begins in Year 1, Exposure Rotation.

Year 1 Exposure Rotation: This 12-month rotational program will give you the tools that are imperative to succeeding in an operations leadership role.

In three-month intervals, you will spend time in Manufacturing, Finance, Sales, and Environmental Health and Safety. These exposure rotations are not designed to show you how to make a spreadsheet or sell someone a new product.  They are designed to teach you the fundamentals of running your own business. Instead of just knowing “what” to do, Year 1 will teach you why and how to do it.

Year 2 Leadership Operation Immersion: This 12-month rotation will be dedicated to developing a thorough knowledge of the day-to-day operations at Patrick Industries. Your Exposure Rotation in Year 1 will be put to practice as you enter your first six-months building influence and indirectly influencing change in one of our manufacturing facilities. This will be your chance to make an impact on processes. In the second six-months, you will be in a different facility leading a team of 5-20 team members. This is your opportunity to start making an impact on people. Throughout this year, you will connect with industry professionals and build rapport with operations teams to get an insider view of how and why the Patrick Values are vital to the success of our business.

Year 3 Career Launch: After graduating from Year 2, the rotations are over. This is your chance to take what you learned in Year 1 and practiced in Year 2, to impact team members, customers, the customer experience, the business and your own career. You will be prepared to collaborate with a Business Unit Director and enter into a significant leadership role in his/her facility. You will have the opportunity to share what you have learned and continue to grow your expertise in operations leadership.

Throughout Impact, you will attend leadership training and development sessions alongside your fellow Impact teammates and other early career talent peers in the organization. Taught by our Senior Management Team, Corporate Directors, and Human Resources, these courses include subjects such as Customer 1st, a Mentorship Program, Leadership, Manufacturing, Situational Leadership and Values, Environmental Health and Safety, and Engaging Your Team.
